To turn part of the unused area of the Brno heating plants and the surrounding area into a living smart city district, this was the main task for the participants of the International Open One-phase Urban Design Idea Competition – Špitálka. The competition was organized by the Office of the Main Architect of the City of Brno. The jury evaluated a total of twenty-six proposals from the Czech Republic, but also from from Slovakia, Serbia, Poland, Belgium, Lithuania, Great Britain, Japan and Singapore. The winner of the competition was Prague studio Aulík Fišer architekti. The results were approved by the Brno City Council on Wednesday, 20 March 2019.
